Why I Finally Built One Website (And What It Has to Do with Imposter Syndrome)
You ever get nervous when somebody asks you, “So… what do you do?”
Yeah, same.
For the longest time, I’d freeze up because the truth is, I do a lot. I’m a strategist, a facilitator, I own A Hair Boutique Shadyside, and I run a full-service interior design business. Saying all of that out loud made me feel like Lynn from Girlfriends — talented at everything, but do people actually believe you can be good at it all?
Cue imposter syndrome.
Cue the voice in my head whispering, Jack of all trades, master of none.
But here’s the thing: God doesn’t hand out purpose halfway. He gives you gifts, and it’s your job to actually use them. And the truth? I am good at all these things. They’re not just hobbies. They’re businesses. They’re profitable. They’ve got receipts — education, experience, track record, clients who keep coming back.
The real “aha” moment for me was realizing:
👉🏽 These aren’t random hats I wear. They’re connected.
👉🏽 The process is repeatable.
👉🏽 And if I can take someone (or something) from vision to reality in one area of my life, I can do it in another.
So instead of hiding or watering myself down, I decided to pull it all together — one site, one place, one LaToya Johnson-Rainey. It’s not about being “all over the place.” It’s about showing how strategy, facilitation, entrepreneurship, and design all weave together into a process that’s clear, aligned, and (dare I say) impactful.
Why now? Maybe because I finally stopped running from it. Maybe because “to whom much is given, much is required.” Maybe because the time is just… right.
What I do know is this: if you’ve ever felt like you were “too much” or “doing too much,” maybe the real truth is you’re finally living in all of who you are. And that’s not scattered. That’s legacy.
